Cat Paintings

A new Maine Coon painting

August 5th, 2010

This is Teddy, a spectacular Maine Coon and a very gentle and affectionate cat. I wanted to put him in a colourful setting that would set off his wonderful coat.

This painting is 16×16 inches and will be in the Society Of Feline Artists show in September.

Billy and Millie

June 23rd, 2010

These two Siamese tabby points were wonderful to paint. I loved doing Billy and Millie. I kept their fur warm in colour and set them against a lilac backdrop that compliments their coats. I wanted to give this painting a feeling of warmth and affection. This is a 20×16 acrylic painting on canvas.

The star of the show is Millie with those lovely blue eyes! Here’s a close up of Millie.

Justin

April 16th, 2010

This recent commission of Justin was a lot of fun to paint. He’s a good looking Siamese cat and standing in front of the flowers  adds another colourful dimension to the portrait.

This is a 16×12 acrylic on paper.

In The Pink

April 14th, 2010

Here is my new Siamese cat painting, In The Pink.  It’s taken me a while to paint it. I loved the pose, Kimi stretching on the fence. He looks fabulous and his people kindly gave me permission to use him as a model. He makes a wonderful model too!

But it took me quite a while to get the backdrop right.

There are lots of different pinks, purples and reds in that tree!

I’ve even managed a tiny human figure in the garden, reading under a tree. That’s a first for me.

I hope to exhibit it in the Society Of Feline Artists show in London in September. He is a 20×16 inch oil painting on canvas board.

I hope I’ve managed to capture those startling eyes.

Bonnie and Fred

September 8th, 2009

This is a digital painting I created for an article. The brief was painting pets and these two show how our pets form family relationships, not just with us, but also with each other. German Shepherds are very loyal and protective dogs and Bonnie here is looking after little Fred.

Harry On The Chair

August 2nd, 2009

This is a small oil painting of Harry sitting on the chair enjoying the sun. I haven’t thought of a proper title for it yet. I loved the way the colours reflected in his coat, he’s so shiny! And his yellow eyes really catch the sun.

The painting is about 12×8 inches and I’ve put it in a beautiful ivory coloured frame. I love it in this frame.

He’ll go into the Society Of Feline Artists show I think. If I can bear to part with him!
