Photos of the hang and of the private view can seen on the SOFA blog. There’s a slideshow with plenty of photos so you can get a good look around the show. Almost as good as being there.

A new Maine Coon painting

August 5th, 2010

This is Teddy, a spectacular Maine Coon and a very gentle and affectionate cat. I wanted to put him in a colourful setting that would set off his wonderful coat.

Big Horn Sheep

Hebridean Black Sheep

July 22nd, 2010

I’ve been working hard on new paintings for the last two months, getting paintings finished for my new show, Cats, Dogs and Other Animals, at Ripley Arts Centre in Bromley next week. This one is Louisa, a Hebridean sheep. They are very beautiful sheep and a joy to paint. This is a 12×12 inch acrylic painting on board. If you want to see her you’ll need to come along to the Ripley Arts Centre, the show is on until August the 28th.

Wool Gatherer

May 19th, 2010

One of the black Hebridean sheep from the Ashdown forest flock. This is an oil painting on board. It took ages to get it right and I very nearly abandoned it. But all of a sudden it seemed to come together.

Wool Gatherer

I’m glad it did because these eyes are quite something.

Picnic In the Grass

May 17th, 2010

Four pretty girls sitting in the long grass for a bite to eat, watching the world go by. I really like these girls, they have lovely faces and great expressions. This is a small oil painting, a 10×8 oil. I hope to do a larger painting of them soon.

The Flock On the Move

Here’s one of the large Ashdown Forest paintings framed. I’m very pleased with these frames, they look wonderful. This is the flock of Hebridean sheep moving through the forest heath.

Here’s a close up of the canvas…

The Flock Heading Home

This is another painting for the Ashdown Forest show. The sheep are heading home in the evening light. This is a small 10×8 oil on board. Not sure of a title yet.

Stag

May 5th, 2010

The finished painting of the stag in the grassy glade in Ashdown Forest. It’s full of abstract grasses with splashes of wild flowers.
